The Become Company
Terms of Service
Last updated 12 August 2026
Become is a personal growth, journalling and identity coaching application operated by The Become Company, founded by Niamh Dee. By creating an account or using Become, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Your account
You need an account to save your work and use the Coach. You must be at least 16 years old to use Become. This is our own product policy rather than a legal age limit set by Swiss law. You also need to give an email address you control, and keep your sign-in details private. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has access to it.
Using the service
Become is for your own personal reflection. We may improve, change or retire features over time. We aim to keep the service available, but we do not promise uninterrupted access, and occasional maintenance or downtime is normal.
What Become is not
Become is a self-guided practice. It is not therapy, counselling, medical care, or legal or financial advice, and it is not a substitute for professional help. If you are in crisis or concerned about your mental health, please contact a qualified professional or your local emergency services.
Membership and trial
Some features are free. Coach conversations beyond the free allowance and evolution require a membership. Memberships begin with a free trial where offered. Your trial converts to a paid membership automatically at the end of the trial period unless you cancel before it ends.
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe. Membership fees are billed in advance on a recurring basis at the price shown at checkout, until you cancel. We may change pricing for future billing periods, and we will tell you before that happens. Gift codes and promotional discounts apply only as described at the time they are offered.
Cancellation and refunds
You can cancel at any time from Settings. Cancelling stops future charges. Settings opens the Stripe billing portal, where you can cancel or change your membership. Your membership remains active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you can continue to access your account and your saved content during that period. Where consumer law in your country gives you a right to cancel or a refund, that right applies regardless of anything in these terms.
AI-generated coaching
Coach messages and Core 5 suggestions are generated by AI based on what you have written. They are offered as prompts for reflection. They can be wrong, incomplete or not right for your situation, and you decide what to do with them. You are responsible for your own choices and actions.
Your content
Everything you write in Become stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to store, process and display it back to you, and to send the relevant parts to the AI provider described in our Privacy Policy so your Coach responses can be generated. We do not sell your content, publish it, or use it to train AI models.
Acceptable use
Please do not use Become to break the law, harm others, upload malicious code, attempt to access other people's accounts or our systems, scrape or resell the service, or misuse the Coach to generate harmful or illegal content. We may suspend or close accounts that do these things.
Ending your access
You can close your account at any time by emailing us. We may suspend or end access if these terms are seriously or repeatedly broken, or if we have to for legal reasons.
Limitation of liability
Become is provided as it is. To the extent permitted by the law that applies, The Become Company is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or loss of data. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including liability for intent or gross negligence, liability for death or personal injury, and liability for fraud.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland. Any dispute arising from your use of Become will be handled in good faith, and if we cannot resolve it between us, the courts of Geneva, Switzerland will have jurisdiction. Nothing in these terms affects any mandatory rights you may have under the law that applies to you.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms we will update the date at the top and, where the change is significant, tell you by email before it takes effect.
